Hello everyone,

here are the car's stats to get this out the way
Year: 1997
Make: Ford
Model Taurus
Engine Size: 3.0L Vin "U"
Mileage: 107,000
Trans: Auto

My check engine light recently came on and I am getting three codes
P0133 - Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response
P1131 - Bank 1 running lean
P1132 - Bank 1 running rich

I guessing that since I get the P0133 code and it saying that it's running lean and rich on the same bank it's just the sensor is bad. I was told that they go bad at about 100,000 miles so they are probably due

I have checked all the wiring and everything looks good, and I have also checked the vacuum hoses and they are all connected and in good condition.

The sensor isn't that much and they look easy enough to replace. I do know that the problem sensor is before the cat, but what I don't know is what sides the sensor is on. Something tells me that bank 1 is the right side of the engine if you are looking at it from the front(standing on the passenger side looking at the belt/pulley assembly)

So basically what I want to know is could it possibly be something besides the sensor, and what side of the engine is bank one.

Any feedback is appreciated and thank you in advanced

Chances are that it's the O2 sensor.

Bank 1 is the side of the engine that cylinder #1 is on.

If you don't have a manual, you can call the dealer.

Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks for the reply. I was afraid that bank one and cylinder one would be on the same side I was hoping it was the one towards the front of the cars since that one is sitting right out in the open.

I won't have time to do anything productive until the weekend. I was told that old codes may still show up so I erased the codes and I'm going to see what comes back. I drove it to work today and the light hasn't came back yet.
