I am going to direct this question at Jeff Compton because he's a Chrysler tech.

I've had a P0455 code in my 2002 Jeep Liberty 3.7L since about July. I have a code reader but it WILL NOT clear the code for some reason. It just keeps cycling over and over and the CEL never goes out. I disconnected the battery and it went away for about 3 days. I haven't done anything since then.

Anyway, I've done some searching about this P0455 and I know where I should look, starting at the gas cap, then the rubber lines that go to the green test port near the airbox, then the rubber lines that come off the fuel tank. If those are ok, I have been told to check and/or replace the EVAP Purge Solenoid, which I can and will do rather cheaply.

Jeff, do you have any experiences with Liberty's and the P0455 code? Maybe you could narrow it down for me? Basically just looking for your personal experience on this one. Thanks, you're a lifesaver!

Probably at the back by the fuel tank if the gas cap and the lines under the hood check out all right! If you're going to try a new cap get one from the dealer. I throw all the aftermarket ones in the trash and start over when they come in the shop with those codes, been burned enough times to know better! the purge solenoid is not as common a failure item as people think, the ldp is more so from my expereience and before buying either I'd have the dealer diag it assuming nothing visual jumps out at you! It's a pretty easy system to diag with the factory scan tool
