While driving my -99 Chrysler Concorde with 105k miles on the 3.2L, the SES light came on, but I noticed no difference in engine performance. At home, my OBD scanner revealed two codes: P0340 (cam shaft position sensor) and P0112 (Intake manifold temperature sensor) .

Hoping to fix the P0340, I have changed out the cam shaft position sensor but both codes keep coming back. The intake temperature reads a solid 200+ degrees, so there is definitely something wrong.

Could it really be a coincidence that both sensors fails at approximately the same time, and why would not changing out the cam shaft position sensor fix the P0340 code?

The engine has to crank longer than normal before it starts, but once running, it runs fine.

Any thoughts?

bh

HI ¡

Yes could be a coincidence ¡
I think you are having 2 different problems, check your IAT sensor and harnnes check if it not shortted or broken; returning to the cam failre you should check the cam harness, check if it has voltage supply, check its harness for shortted or broken.
Also could be, (but these is not a rule of thumb) that both sensors are having problems because they could be sharing the voltage supply or a negative signal (for example) and if the harness is dammaged it most affect both sensors...
