It sounds like the ground wire may be broken. CHeck the back of both cylinder heads for ground straps.

Is this the same truck that had the ongoing misfire problem that we never heard back from you about!

Jeff, Yes it is. Your statement mostlikely is correct about the compression being too low.
This code P0118 is new and I can't figure it out.I changed to Temp sendng unit, Checked the wires and Got almost 5 volts.
Thanks for your help

I have a spare 4.3 that needs a rebuild. I think I will do the heads first. If I still get the code I will rebuild the rest of the block. Maybe .030 over and Hyperconetic pistons, Total seal rings and new bearings Etc. and go from there.
It is not the comuter because I tries 2 different ones with the same results.
I can't beleive that one overheating could cause all the trouble that I am having. Got stuck in my mothers driveway in a snow storm. All the rest you know.
Thanks

You may want to get the block magnafluxed. The 4.3s are good engines but they are weak in the lifter galley.

Those engines are used extensively on power boat and should they freeze, the first place they crack are in the lifter galley.

This 4.3 came out of a S10 Blazer. I heard it run ahd was there when he pulled it out.
It smocked a little, but not too bad.
