Hey, I have a 2003 Mazda Protege LX 2.0 Liter and it is having some issues. It usually runs fine until I let it idle. It idles at about 200 RPM (sounds like it is almost dying but stays alive). The check engine light doesn't come on. So I changed the spark plugs (gapped them to exactly .75mm which is reccomended) and no improvement. I had a friend disconnect the the MAP sensor, and then the 'check engine' light came on. I had a different friend hook up a OBD II reader and we got 5 codes. P0102, P0103, P0113 (which probably had something to do with disonnecting the MAP sensor), and P0401 & P0300 came up. These are the generic engine misfire codes (we think). My car has 82,000 miles. Fuel injector? Coils? O2 sensor? Any ideas?

I have (2001) Mazda Protege ES 300 (4 cyl.) and it's at 80,500 miles and I have got exact same problem (Code P0300) just today!! I also hear a shaking-sound (it's like two metals barely touching each other and they make sound upon vibration) when my car is in "D" gear on a slow speed or stand alone. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
