I've got 2000 Honda Civic Si. I have replaced the front O2 sensor 3 tiimes already. I am pretty sure the wiring was replaced with the O2 sensor, but I a could be wrong. I was told at one point about 3 years ago that the codes are coming up because of my 4-1 header and that the O2 sensor is too sensitive for the aftermarket part(s). the codes started to come up when I updated to a 4-1 header, a thermal cat-back exhaust, and added a cold air intake to my car. I added all these parts at once so the logical conclusion that i can come up with since the O2 sensor by the catalitic converter is not acting up neither the sensor (not sure if it is O2 or not) by the cold air intake, the only other one left is by the header. Could the header running too hot cause the sensor to pick up both codes? And if i do need a new O2 sensor again, how can I make sure that this time the new one doesn't go up again within the first couple of months. They are about $250 a piece for new ones. Since the codes have been around for 3 plus years, I can't say too much about the performance of the vehicle except that I notice that the car is running rich (per code) and that about all I can sum up as an issue. Please help!
There have been alot of issues with aftermarket o2 sensors causing problems on hondas. Make sure you have no exhaust leaks, no other drivability problems, as they can cause o2s to switch slowly.
I don't think it's the 4 into 1 header. It's basically a chamber that the o2 is screwed into and whether or not it's a header or a stock manifold makes no difference. If you find hte o2 isn't switching, then replace with a Honda o2 sensor.
