Check engine light has been on and off for several months now. I've had my truck in and out of the local gas station and Chevy dealership. Both O2 sensors were replaced, as was the fuel pressure regulator by the gas station. Took it to the dealership and they determined that the fuel rods (or maybe it was the cylinders) had to be replaced @ $800 a pop. Between the two places, I was assured that the engine was thoroughly looked over and disassembled and cleaned as much as possible to locate the problem. I haven't noticed any leaks underneath the truck before or after this.

Light is back on now and I want to fix this without getting hosed by the dealership. Any suggestions would be very welcomed.

First of all what the heck is a fuel rod? Secondly after 2 shops and a still broken truck you think the dealer is going to hose you  The last 2 shops didn't but the dealer will is that what you're saying! Gee as a dealer tech I don't find that too offensive, Those codes have probably a 100 posts on this site about what causes them. Maybe you should read some of them before running your mouth on here!

okay, let's all remember not to post anything that will offend any of our techs on this site. It aggravates the mechs and techs and it doesn't help with our diagnosis.
Thank you

Ok, maybe I was a bit insensitive towards the mechs and techs, but I failed to give the background. This particular Chevy dealership promised me their determination of the problem within 24 hours. In the end, I lost three days of work b/c it took them that long to just look at my truck, and nothing was fixed- I just got their best guess. I was quite frustrated with their service and customer relations.

Disregard "fuel rod"- whatever it was that they told me, there were 8 of them that they wanted to replace @ $800 a pop. Not sure how cylinders prompt a rich run, but that is what I remember. I was also warned about the catalytic converter running hot if the problem wasn't addressed. I just don't want to keep going down the line I have already started- first replacing the fuel pressure regulator, then the O2 sensors.

Unless the vehicle is powered by a nuclear reactor, I assume that you meant fuel injectors.

Check/clean MAF, check for vacuum leaks at all vacuum lines, intake gaskets, etc.

It is possible that the injectors are leaking.

Good luck and keep us posted.
