My Girlfriend's grandmother's 99 olds 88 with the 3800 V-6/auto with 63,200 miles had the check engine light come on. A Code P0102 was stored. My scanner said that the Mass air flow circuit is low. The car has been dying while driving. No other codes are stored. I unplugged the harness to the MAF sensor and checked the wires of the harness but didn't see any problems with them. I have not tried cleaning the sensor yet but will try that tomorrow. What else should I look at? What is the chance that the MAF sensor is bad. These sensors are expensive so I want to make sure whats wrong before I start throwing parts at it.

Are there any other things that would cause this code to set? Thanks for any help. By the way, I'm using an AutoXray 6000 scanner.

Clean the MAF and see if it runs better.

If not, try running it with the MAF disconnected and see if it runs better.

Also, check voltage and grounds at the MAF connector.

Good luck and keep us posted.
