'02 doge intrepid 133k miles - new engine at 130k miles. check engine light did the key to on-off-of-off-on-off-on and showed two codes p0441 and p0340. also, autozone said it was the "cmp controller". Any ideas? :?:

it's a cam sensor fault for the 340 and the 441 is an evap fault, very common

Thanks Jeff.- I see your name all over the boards and you seem quite knowledgeable. Is this a big deal repair? Is it typcially something that is covered with a new engine or is it unrelated?

New engine? Let me guess a 2.7 ltr that was replaced ? the cam sensor is pretty straight forward to change in either the 2.7, 3.2 or 3.5. Doubtful the new engine came with one! It's possible it was damaged in transferring all the parts from your old engine to your new one unless we're talking about a new used engine from a wrecking yard! The evap code is likely the Leak detection pump or the purge solenoid or the vent valve. The dealer should have the cam sensor in stock. They're not that expensive.

good luck and keep us postted

Jeff
