I have a 97 GMC Suburban 5.7 1/2 ton w/tow package and 165,000 miles. I just purchased the vehicle and replaced the intake gaskets and upgraded the FI unit also. It runs great now but over the weekend I pulled a car trailer with a small load of branches to the dump and for the first time since I have owned it it shifted real hard from first to second. At the same time the SES lite came on. I went home and dropped off the trailer and shut the vehicle off while unhooking the trailer. When I started it back up the SES lite was off. So I went to Avance Auto to have the code read and it came up as P0122 tps pedal position sensor a circuit low input and P1122 tps pedal position intermittent ckt low voltage. It has not done this since. Is it possible the two are related? I have seen in other posts on here that it might be possible and if so what should I do? A new TPS is less than $50. Should I just replace it or is this not the cause of the hard shift?? Thanks for the help,
ccnova

you think it's related to having the trailer hooked up or the weight increase?

I am wondering if the hard shift is related to the tps error codes. I have read that the tps is a very important sensor and can affect lots of things if it is working incorrectly. Is this true? Thanks for the help,

sure it is, the sensor and the trailer could just be a coincidence! A sensor is a realtively cheap guess at this point if you want to try that!

I had never put the two together I just thought it was my luck to have two things go bad at once. But I also just hate to guess and throw parts at something. Is there a way to look into this better? Thanks for the help,

Sorry I dont have access to a scope. I will probably just replace the tps for now and hope nothing else pops up. Thanks for the help!
