I have 97 mazda protege with check Eng light one...Emission related powertrain diagnostic trouble code status shows p0100(Mass r Volume Air Flow Circit) and P0170( Fuel Trim Malfunction-Bank 1) what that mean and how to fix it? Please advise....Thank you.

proabaly a MAf issue or a vaccum leak from the intake gaskets

Mass Air Flow sensor...it's located in the air intake snorkle just behind the air filter.

Check the wiring and connections to it and try cleaning the little tiny wires with brake kleen or electronic cleaner. Be very careful as the wires are fragile.

Ther might be a little wiring diagram in the engine room to help you locate it.
