 Post subject: 96 pontiac 3.1 egr P0401

I have a 3.1 Pontiac that keeps getting a P0401 code the dealer has decarboned it 3 times and the egr replaced 2 times. It has 130,000 miles all of this work has been done starting in 2007 the egr replacement's and 2 decarbs were done in the last 4 month the last decarb last week.
they decarbed and changed the map sensor this fixed the problum when I first posted they hadnt fix it then I wanted to know how to prevent this from happing again

It does not have a DPFE. Computer looks for a increase in MAP pressure when the EGR is opened. This is done on de-cel from above 30 mph.

There is a video on Wells engine management system website onj how to test the egr valve and check for flow and then how to clean the throttle body, some require intake manifold removal to clean it thoroughly. as well some gm v6's have a rubber gasket on the map sensor that when it's torn or missing the egr fault is set

Was the throttle body and Egr valve removed to clean out the EGR port?
I found that decarboning systems do not clean that port out good enough. Use carb cleaner and a coat hanger to clear out the port.
also check the flex pipe from egr to manifold for damage.
